FAQs

What concerns do you support?

We support individuals struggling with:

Binge Eating Disorder, Bulimia Nervosa, Anorexia Nervosa, Cycles of Restricting and Bingeing, Restrictive Eating, Mild or early-stage disordered eating (EDNOS/OSFED), Chronic dieting or difficulty maintaining a balanced relationship with food, Body Image Concerns, ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), Anxiety Disorders (including health anxiety, GAD, panic, and related concerns).

If a higher level of care is required, this will be discussed to ensure you are supported in accessing the most appropriate next steps.

How long are sessions, how often do they occur, and what are the fees?

Sessions are typically 50 minutes. Session frequency is discussed collaboratively and may be weekly, fortnightly, or adjusted over time depending on your needs and goals. We charge below the recommended APS rate of $318 per session, fees are $270 per 50 minutes. Payment is processed securely via automatic billing.

The current Medicare rebate for a 50-minute session with a Clinical Psychologist is $145.25 per session.

Do you offer in-person or online appointments?

Inner Room Psychology offers both in-clinic and telehealth (online) appointments. At this time, we are accepting new clients via telehealth, as our in-clinic appointments are currently at capacity. All new referrals requesting in-clinic appointments will be placed on a waitlist.

Do you offer Medicare rebates, and how much are they?

Yes we do. Medicare rebates may be available with a valid referral from a GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician under a Mental Health Treatment Plan or Eating Disorder Treatment Plan.

The current Medicare rebate for a 50-minute session with a Clinical Psychologist is $145.25 per session.

If you are referred under an Eating Disorder Management Plan, you may be eligible for up to 40 Medicare-rebated sessions within a 12-month period, subject to GP review and ongoing eligibility. If you are referred under a Mental Health Treatment Plan, you may be eligible for up to 10 Medicare-rebated sessions per calendar year, subject to GP review and ongoing eligibility.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule, 48 hours’ notice is required. Late cancellations or missed appointments will incur the full session fee. This policy helps ensure session availability is respected, as late cancellations and missed appointments also limit the opportunity for other clients on the waitlist to be offered that time at short notice.

If an appointment is cancelled, changed, or missed with less than 24 hours’ notice during business days, the full session fee will apply. If a cancellation or change is made between 24–48 hours’ notice during business days, 50% of the session fee will apply.

Please note that cancellation timeframes are calculated using business days only and do not include weekends or public holidays.

What if I need urgent support?

Inner Room Psychology is not a crisis service. If you are experiencing immediate distress or feel unsafe, please contact emergency services (000), Lifeline (13 11 14), or attend your nearest emergency department.
