Welcome to Inner Room Psychology
Thank you for being here. We are a specialist team of registered Clinical Psychologists offering evidence-based treatment for mild to moderate presentations across the spectrum of eating disorders, disordered eating, body image difficulties, and related mood and anxiety disorders.
We understand that reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, and that recovery is rarely linear. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, uncertain, or simply exhausted from trying to manage things on your own, therapy can offer a space to slow down, make sense of what is happening, and begin moving toward recovery in a supported and meaningful way.
Inner Room (noun)
A dedicated, safe space within oneself - a private sanctuary for reflection, healing, and exploration of the mind and psyche. A place to slow down, be seen by oneself, and tend to the inner world.
What We Offer
Inner Room Psychology is a specialist clinical psychology practice offering evidence-based treatment for eating disorders, body image concerns, and anxiety. We provide a supportive, non-judgemental space for clients to explore challenges, build insight, and work toward lasting change. Our approach is evidence-based, focused on collaborative care, and taking the time to understand the person behind the challenges.
We are currently welcoming new clients and referrals. We provide support for individuals experiencing:
Binge Eating Disorder
Bulimia Nervosa
Anorexia Nervosa
Cycles of Restricting and Bingeing
Restrictive Eating
Mild or early-stage disordered eating (EDNOS/OSFED)
Chronic dieting or difficulty maintaining a balanced relationship with food
Body Image Concerns
ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder)
Anxiety Disorders (including health anxiety, GAD, panic, and related concerns)
Because of the level of medical monitoring required, presentations such as Anorexia Nervosa are not able to be supported through telehealth alone. Based on our availability for in-clinic and telehealth appointments, we will advise on the most appropriate option based on the concerns outlined in your referral. Kindly indicate your preference in your referral so we can best accommodate you.
Please note that, due to the limitations of private practice, we are unable to provide treatment for individuals who are at significant medical or psychological risk, including those with very low body weight or active suicidal ideation.
What to Expect
Once a referral or enquiry is submitted, our team will be in touch as soon as possible to answer any questions and discuss appointment availability for an initial assessment.
The initial assessment session (50 minutes) is an opportunity for your psychologist to gain a thorough understanding of your current concerns, relevant history, previous treatment experiences, and where you are currently at in your recovery or therapeutic journey. We may also explore factors such as motivation, supports, and goals for treatment. The initial assessment is also an opportunity to get to know your psychologist and see whether they feel like the right fit for you.
Following the assessment, your psychologist will begin forming an understanding of what may be contributing to your difficulties. Feedback is typically provided in the second session, often in the form of a clinical formulation and/or discussion around possible diagnoses where appropriate. Recommendations and treatment options will also be discussed collaboratively at this stage. In some cases, we may identify that your presentation may be better explained by another concern or may require a different type or level of support. If this occurs, this will always be discussed openly with you, and appropriate referrals or recommendations will be explored together.
If you have a Mental Health Care Plan or Eating Disorder Treatment and Management Plan, please email your referral and care plan to innerroompsychology@gmail.com prior to your initial appointment to ensure Medicare rebates can be processed. If you are unsure whether a Mental Health Care Plan or Eating Disorder Plan may be appropriate for you, this can also be discussed with your clinician during your initial sessions.
We welcome questions at any stage and encourage you to share any information that may help us make your experience feel as comfortable, supportive, and smooth as possible.
